About Bournemouth Centre
Bournemouth is a large coastal resort town in the county of Dorset, England, UK. With a population approximated at a number of more than 163 000 inhabitants, it is currently the largest settlement in the county, as well as the largest one between Southampton and Plymouth. The town was founded by Lewis Tregonwell, in 1810, and it has continuously grown since the arrival of the railway, by 1870, becoming a recognized town, today, being a popular destination for tourists, due to its location on the south coast of England.
Archaeological evidences suggest that the Dorset and Hampshire region that surrounds Bournemouth, has been the site of human settlements for thousands of years. As the town's growth accelerated in the early 20th century, theatres, cafes, art deco cinemas and more hotels started to appear, the town's "new" buildings including the 1921 War Memorial and the Bournemouth Pavilion, as well as the town's concert hall and grand theatre, which were finished in 1925.
After Bournemouth escaped great damage during the Second World War, and experienced a period of decline as a seaside resort in the post war era, it managed to pull through, and become the beautiful coastal resort town we see today.
